Description
1 hour 30 minutes June Cochrane was born in Casterton, Victoria and moved with her family to Adelaide in 1944. She began training at the Royal Adelaide Hospital in December 1950. This was followed by midwifery training in Melbourne. A chronic disability (spondylitis) prevented her from continuing in clinical nursing and June choose a career in nursing education. For nineteen years she was Principal Nurse Educator at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. She was also active in the professional affairs of the Royal Australian Nursing Federation, and council member of the Royal College of Nursing Australia. In 1981 June Cochrane left Adelaide to become Executive Director of the College.
