History of Nursing in South Australia

Barbara Good was born in Adelaide, South Australia. After completion of schooling at The Wilderness School, she spent a short time at Clare with her family and then began training at Mareeba. Five months later she began again at the Memorial Hospital, completing the course in 1945. After midwifery training in Sydney Barbara was a staff member at the Repatriation General Hospital at Daw Park. She gained a Diploma in Nursing Administration in 1965 and became Acting Matron in 1972. In 1975 she moved to Tasmania and was Dirctor of Nursing at the Repatriation Hospital in Hobart until her retirement from nursing in 1982.
