    1 hour Margaret Trudinger was born in Adelaide, South Australia. She left school during the Depression in 1931, and helped her family on a small property at Athelstone until she began training at the Adelaide Hospital at the end of 1934. On completion of training ‘Trudie’ nursed at Millicent and Mount Gambier. She was on the staff of the Wallaroo Hospital when called up, in June 1940, to the Australian Army Nursing Service. Her nursing experiences in the army included postings to Woodside, Daws Road, Palestine, Egypt, Port Moresby and Lae.
