Description

This powerful and affirming documentary traces the birth and life of 'The Foundation for Aboriginal Affairs'.
What begins as a documentary about The Foundation and the conditions for Kooris in the 1960s, at a time when many Kooris were moving from the country to the city - unfolds into a complex commentary on indigenous inspired social and political events of the 1960s and 1970s.
The Foundation was an organisation that through its welfare and social activities became a pivotal focus for Kooris, and became the crucible for social and political activities such as the Tent Embassy that brought indigenous issues to the attention of all Australians.
The documentary features interviews with Chicka Dixon, Gary Foley, Joyce Clague, Esther Carroll and Roy Carroll, combined with previously unseen archival footage that brings the 1960s to life.
