Composer and pianist Dulcie Holland trained at the New South Wales Conservatorium of Music and graduated in 1933 with her teacher’s diploma. In addition to teaching, Dulcie completed further study at the Royal College of Music, London. On her return to Sydney she became a freelance composer, successfully writing various styles of music for many mediums.

From 1967 to 1984 Dulcie was an examiner for the Australian Music Education Board and in 1977 she was appointed a Member in the General Division of the Order of Australia (AM) for services to music. Dulcie also received an honorary doctorate in music from Macquarie University and published extensively on the topic of music theory.
