Focussing on Food: Women in Victorian Culinary History: A Free Seminar at SLV on October 18, 2012
Discover how women have contributed to Victoria’s culinary landscape at this free event, which complements the Library’s current exhibition, Gusto! A culinary history of Victoria and learn about the Australian Women’s Register.
Greg Gerrand, Heritage Collections Project Coordinator at the Library, will present recipes from the Library’s collection.
Tracey Judd Iva, Curator of Gusto! will provide an overview of the exhibition and some of the significant women it highlights.
Professor Diane Kirkby, La Trobe University, will discuss ‘Finding history in your soup’.
Dr Nikki Henningham, Executive Officer of the Australian Women’s Archives Project, will talk about the latest developments on the Australian Women’s Register.
Where: State Library of Victoria Conference room, entrance from La Trobe Street, Melbourne.
