Greer Can’t Protest Enough

Launching a new exhibition on her alma mater’s activist history, Protest! Archives from the University of Melbourne, on February 20th, 2012, Professor Germaine Greer said she became a radical at university. In a short, sharp, witty speech, she encouraged staff and students to think about organising their archives and leaving them with someone who cares. As she pondered her own evolution as a radical, and reflected on her own history, she bemoaned the lack of important archival evidence to help jog her memory. ‘Archives are the paydirt of history,’ she told the 200 strong audience.
