International Women’s Day at Public Record Office – 8 March 2016.

Date: 3 March 2016

The Australian Women’s Archives Project team look forward to the annual seminar with PROV to honour Australian women and their history. This year, the event fall on International Women’s Day itself, 8 March 2016, and we are going to talk with the community about whether we need a women’s museum, or library, or heritage centre. Do we need something permanent (like a museum) to physically mark the important role of women in Australian public life and culture?

In June 2014, Victorian women from a variety of backgrounds and professions united with the single aim to establish a Victorian Women’s Heritage Centre.

Join members of this committee, including Judy Maddigan (former Speaker of the Victorian Parliament), Di Gardiner (former General Manager, Old Treasury Museum) and Nikki Henningham (EO, Australian Women’s Archives Project) as Charlie Farrugia (Senior Collections Advisor at Public Record Office Victoria) facilitates a discussion on ‘Why Victoria needs a Women’s Heritage Centre’.
