Vale Deirdre Hyland and Judy Joy Davies

Date: 27 June 2016

Two of Australia’s foremost sportswomen have passed away this year. Both were inductees into the Sports Australia Hall of Fame.

Deirdre Hyland was central to the ¬†development of Australian netball at a state, national and international level. She played a key role in elevating the sport’s public profile, direction and credibility for over more than 30 years.

Judy Joy Davies was a champion Australian swimmer who was a trailblazer for women in sports journalism.

We thank them both for their important contributions to Australian women’s sport.
