ResearcHERs @ UoM Wikipedia edit-a-thon

Date: 21 August 2017

On Friday August 25th 2017, the University of Melbourne community will come together to improve the representation of women on Wikipedia. There will be workshops for both new and experienced Wikipedians, a cheat sheet, suggested subjects and reference sources, roving Wiki experts, lunch and all-day refreshments. The aim is to improve the open educational content of this online encyclopedia by increasing the representation of women. The Australian Women’s Register will provide important online source material for the volunteer Wikipedians working on the day.

We are happy to say that the event is booked out, but recognise that many of our readers who can’t attend are keen to learn how to edit Wikipedia. We aim to provide a report, including ‘how tos’ and ‘tips for young players’ based on the experience gained during the workshop. Stay tuned: the work doesn’t stop on August 25th!
