Jocelynne Scutt was born in Perth in 1947. She studied law at the University of Western Australia and became one of Australia's most prominent feminist lawyers. In 1999, Scutt became Tasmania's first anti-discrimination commissioner, and later took up a judicial appointment in Fiji.
