Description:

Young Greek Girls Dance at the laying of the foundation stone for Sydney's Castellorizian social club.

Date:1972
Place:Sydney, New South Wales
Interpretive description:

Ethnic Clubs and organisations fight a constant battle to keep relevant as they struggle to attract both overseas and Australian born members. The girls in this photograph gesture towards one way that this can occur; by allowing traditions to evolve in a new envireonment. In this photograph, they give a very modern interpretation to a 'traditional' dance.
