Summary

Jane Aeberhard-Hodges is the former Director of the International Labour Organisation’s Gender, Equality and Diversity Branch. Following her ILO retirement, Jane continued to support global work towards adoption of the Violence and Harassment in the World of Work Convention, 2019 (No.190), writing substantially on ending violence against women and girls (VAWG).

Since 2014 Jane has edited the International Labour Law Reports, and collaborates with the UN Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD) as Senior Research Associate. From 2016-2019 she was the Gender Equality Director of Investing in Women, the Australian Government initiative for women’s economic empowerment in South East Asia, for which she remains a go-to resource. Now based back in Geneva, she has supported Central Statistics Office (CSO) activities to end gender-based discrimination especially to support policy choices to eliminate VAWG. Since 2023 she is an Associate of the ECOSOC-accredited INGO Global Migration Policy Associates. Her recent consultancies include for the World Bank, Inter-Parliamentary Union, ASEAN and ITC-ILO, as well as with private sector non-profits wishing to introduce their own equality and diversity strategies, such as the London-based international equine charity Brooke.
