Lady Margaret Stanley became the first President of the Australian Red Cross, Victoria, in 1914. Born Margaret Evelyn Evans Gordon, she married Arthur Lyulph Stanley, 5th Baron of Alderley, in 1905. Appointed K.C.M.G. in 1914, Sir Arthur served as Governor of Victoria from 1914-20. |
