The Society of Women Writers Western Australia Inc. began in 1977 with five members as a Magazine Branch of the Society of Women Writers (Australia). In 1981, with a membership of approximately fifty, it became a full Branch, and it 2000 it became a
an independent incorporated body when the national society was disbanded. The Society's main aim is to draw together women writers to support each other in their writing endeavours, and various seminars, worshops and other activities are organised towards this end.
