Margaret Collings was very active in the growth of the Australian Democrats in the Eastern suburbs in the 1990s. In her 1998 campaign she was listed as a student.
She was a long time resident of the Eastern Suburbs and the mother of two children.
She supported the Democrats as an environmental party which recognised the obligations Australia had to other national as part of a global community.
