Please:Please;please; stop these players from grunting, and making other noises when hitting the ball. it is not required and is extremely annoying to spectators as well those watching tennis on T.V. It must be a "put off" tactic for the opponent.

PLEASE PLEASE for GOODNESS and HEARING sake shut these girls UP. I can no longer watch the womens tennis with the sound on. It is most un necessary, unpleasant and must put the other player off. It's about time the RULE 19 was and the noise STOPPED. I do enjoy watching the Tennis which is about all I do in Jan. but I simply can't stand the noise. Jane

Women's tennis is losing a lot of respect and support due to the unnecessary screaming, shrieking, and loud grunting allowed during play. The numbers of comments on this subject should be a strong indication to the women's tennis association and Australian Tennis Association that tennis fans have had enough. It is not necessary and is only proving detrimental to the game.
I know of many people, myself included, who either turned the sound off on the TV (Channel 7 would not be happy), turned off the TV out if irritation, or who didn't. bother to watch the women's final at all.
