Summary

Established in 1907, Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA) is Australia's major water safety and rescue authority and is one of the largest volunteer organisations in the country. Their mission is 'to provide a safe beach and aquatic environment throughout Australia.'

Women had an active involvement in surf-lifesaving for many years before 1980, when they eventually became eligible to become active patrolling members of the association.

Hi there, my mum was a member of the Ladies Federal life savers in Brisbane from 1950. I have loads of photos of when the ladies group represented QLD in Adelaide in 1950. How can I find a link to anyone researching this group? I would like to find information on this SLSC, and would be interested to share photos if they are wanted. regards Karen

There seems to be no register in your archives for the Lady life savers of Brisbane from the 1950's called "The Federals", can you tell me where I can find information on this wonderful group of women who gave their time and commitment to QLD Surf life savers?? Thankyou again, regards Karen
