Tierney, Gayle

 
Parliamentarian

Gayle Tierney was elected Member of the Legislative Council for the Western Victoria Region in 2006, representing the Australian Labor Party.


Career Highlights

Gayle Tierney holds a Bachelor of Arts from Flinders University and worked as a Union advocate on behalf of car workers for seventeen years before embarking upon a political career. She spent fourteen years as State Secretary of the Australian Manufacturing Workers Union Vehicle Division; four years as Federal President of the Vehicle Division; and has been an ACTU Executive member since 2000. Her commitment to manufacturers in the community is ongoing, and she has a particular interest in work and family issues and gender representation. Tierney was elected MLC for the Western Victoria Region in 2006. She is a member of Emily’s List and Amnesty International.
