Tingle, Laura

Laura Tingle has worked in the federal parliamentary press gallery for nearly twenty years, reporting on politics and economics, including stints as political correspondent for the Sydney Morning Herald , and as chief political correspondent for both The Australian and The Age newspapers. She has also worked as chief political correspondent of the Australian Financial Review .

Laura moved into political reporting from economics, following a long period covering financial markets and deregulation for the Australian Financial Review and as economics correspondent for The Australian . She is also the author of Chasing the Future - a book documenting how the recession of the early 1990s changed Australia's political and economic debate.

In June 2004, Laura won the Paul Lyneham Award for Excellence in Press Gallery Journalism.
