Summary
Launched in 1933, the Australian Women's Weekly is the most widely read magazine in the history of Australian publishing. The brainchild of George Warnecke, who was editor-in-chief of the magazine 1933-1938, the Weekly was originally owned and operated by Douglas Frank Hewson Packer, entrepreneur and newspaper proprietor, and Edward Granville (Ted) Theodore, former Federal Treasurer and Deputy Prime Minister in the Scullin Government. As a 'women's interests' publication, the Weekly offers feature articles on lifestyle, home decoration, cooking, fashion and beauty, parenthood, health and wellbeing, and current affairs. Today it enjoys a readership of 2.5 million, including well over half a million men, and it forms an important part of the Australian Consolidated Press holdings.

We have identical twin Aunts about to turn 100. The Guinness Book of Records claims French twins are the oldest living twins at 98. We can provide proof of age, delightful photos and interviews if you are interested. Their 100th birthday is on 6 Nov and we have a party planned for Nov 5th.

My mother won a crossword competition in August 1972 and went on a Pacific cruise on which she met my step father. They were married in May 1973 and spent the rest of their lives together.
I'm pretty sure the weekly covered the story and there was a photographer. Do you know anywhere that has archived issues from August-September 1972 that I might be able to access and make some copies for family records.

I used to receive occasional copies of the Australian Women's Weekly in Scotland in the 50's from my Australian penpal, and I remember you had a section in the magazine where people wrote in to find old friends etc. I did meet my penpal in the UK in the early 60's and am wondering where she is now. Do you still have this section? if so I would love to submit an entry in the hope of making contact with her again. I am now living in the US. Thank you.
