Images

We were unable to track down images for all the women featured in this exhibition and hope that family members may be able to help us with images in the future. We are happy to add images and update these entries with further information. Please contact us if you can help.

We are grateful to the family of Sybil Henderson for supplying the beautiful images of their mother, especially to Eve Plowman.

The image featured on the home page was taken in Melbourne for the Repatriation Commission, showing World War 1 widows undertaking vocational training in millinery (hat making). We have used the copy available through the Australian War Memorial (H13035). There is another version (Accession no: H2014.1077/11) owned by the State Library of Victoria, which gives the date taken as 1919.
